In a shocking piece of news, former UFC fighter Phil Baroni has been arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend in San Francisco, Mexico, according to The Tribuna de la Bahia, a Mexican publication.

The retired mixed martial artist reportedly admitted to throwing the victim into the shower where she hit her head and died minutes later. Baroni claimed that she had admitted to cheating on him.

Baroni reportedly contacted authorities on his own, and they found the victim's naked, lifeless body wrapped in a sheet. She had bruises on her face. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the incident.

According to Baroni's statement, he helped his girlfriend onto the bed after the incident. She was then alive and asked for a cigarette and a beer. He left to get them, and when he returned from the store, she had no vitals. Baroni has been charged with homicide.

Baroni was an early UFC veteran, making his promotional debut at UFC 30 all the way back in February 2001. He had 10 fights across two stints with the organization, compiling a combined 3-7 record. Baroni last competed in 2019, ending his professional mixed martial arts career with a record of 16-19.

Phil Baroni supported 'War Machine' during his trial and even after his conviction

Former mixed martial artist Jonathan 'War Machine' Koppenhaver was convicted on 29 of 36 counts relating to his August 2014 attack on his then-girlfriend, pornographic film actress Christy Mack. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 36 years.

The heinous nature of his crime, however, did not stop Baroni from openly supporting his former teammate. He reportedly visited 'War Machine' in jail, and his public support reportedly led to his Bellator release. Baroni also made a point to support 'War Machine' during the trial.

Baroni continued to support 'War Machine' even after sitting through the shocking details of his crime. He took to Instagram as recently as May 2022 to show support for the disgraced former fighter, sharing a post of him standing behind Koppenhaver during his trial with the caption:

"Loyalty before royality #gzuphoesdown"
