One of the controversial combat sports athletes recently questioned Jon Jones' GOAT status owing to his only UFC loss against Matt Hamill. The ex-Bellator MMA fighter commented on an Instagram update from ESPN MMA to express his opinion about Jones.

Jones' UFC legacy is one of a kind. He is currently a two-time light heavyweight champion and the reigning heavyweight king of the UFC. The Rochester native also boasts an almost perfect UFC record, reading 27-1. Jones's only loss came against Matt Hamill after using the then-illegal 12-6 elbows on his rival in the initial round of their fight in December 2009.

The UFC made a recent change in their rulebook where they legalized the 12-6 elbows. Following this change, Jones expressed that the lone loss of his UFC career should be changed to a KO victory. ESPN MMA highlighted Jones' wish with an Instagram post.

But the controversial combat sports athlete, Dillon Danis, used Jones' loss against Hamill to question his GOAT status. His comment on ESPN MMA's update read:

Danis has ventured into several avenues of combat sports with little success. Initially, he was a part of Conor McGregor's training team. Thereafter, he signed with Bellator MMA and won both of his fights under the promotion. Danis also ventured into boxing and lost to Logan Paul via disqualification.

Jon Jones applauded Dana White for labeling him the best pound-for-pound UFC fighter

The official UFC rankings currently showcase Islam Makhachev as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the promotion. But the UFC CEO, Dana White, has been pretty vocal about his disagreement with them. White labeled Jon Jones as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC multiple times in his recent public appearances.

Jones recently gave White his flowers for supporting him. In a recent interview with MMA journalist, Kevin Iole, the current heavyweight king said:

"It's a huge honor and I'm just very grateful that my boss, a man who sat front for all of our fights, for him to say, 'Hey, listen guys. Trust me. I know what I'm watching, I know what I'm looking at and in my opinion, if Jon was the same size as a lot of these other guys, Jon would be in the mix.'"
