Chael Sonnen has exchanged words with Jorge Masvidal on multiple occasions in the past, with the two making it very clear that they are not fans of one another. 'The American Gangster' reignited the feud by taking a shot at 'Gamebred' after watching Joker: Folie à Deux, which hit theaters last weekend.
The former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title challenger turned mixed martial arts analyst took to X to share that he did not enjoy the movie. Sonnen compared it to the former two-time UFC welterweight title challenger, tweeting:
"JOKER II- Greatest waste of money and potential since Jorge Masvidal,"

While Joker: Folie à Deux debuted at the top of the worldwide box office charts after generating $114.8 million - with $37 million coming from North America - on opening weekend, it has been much less successful than Joker. Releasing exactly five years prior, the 2019 film generated $248.4 million worldwide and $96.2 million in North America. The sequel has received plenty of negative reviews online, with fans noting that it is a musical.
Chael Sonnen was prepared to serve as backup for Jorge Masvidal's recent boxing match
Chael Sonnen made his boxing debut in June, facing former mixed martial arts foe Anderson Silva in a five-round, two-minute exhibition match that ended in a draw. 'The American Gangster' claimed that he was prepared to serve as the backup for Jorge Masvidal's clash with Nate Diaz, which took place three weeks later.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani of The MMA Hour before both bouts, Sonnen expressed his displeasure with 'Gamebred' claiming he would not throw his right hand and pay him his biggest fight purse before adding:
"Now, those are just stupid things to say. To pay me my biggest bag before I ask for it now makes me not respect you as a businessman. I never respected him anyways, but he didn't know that. And then to not throw his right hand? Like he was mister right hand. And by the way, in front of everything, I accept. Please put that in the contract that you'll pay me a bunch of money and that you won't hit me with your right hand."

Sonnen added that if they were to clash, he would accept any of Masvidal's ways of limiting himself. He also noted that he would be juiced and defeat the former welterweight title challenger at any time.
