Charles Oliveira decided to take a well-earned break from the UFC following his loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 280. The former lightweight champion has finally spoken out about when he plans to return to the ring and also about his plans to fight Makhachev again for the title.

According to Brazilian journalist for MMAFighting.com Guilherme Cruz, the Brazilian fighter revealed the month of his return to the Octagon:

"Charles Oliveira says he's planning on returning to the cage in May and hoping to challenge for the belt later this year in Brazil."

Cruz then revealed what Oliveira said about a potential rematch against Islam Makhachev:

"Charles Oliveira on an Islam Makhachev rematch: I had 10 minutes of a bad night and I wouldn't change anything. This fight will happen again. I'll fight in April-May and God will bless me, and later this year I'll fight him again."

Fans know Oliveira for his tremendous heart and "never give up" attitude that has seen him turn the tide of fights completely. The Brazilian believes he had a bad night and does not want that to define him so he will look to fight the champion again and bring back what once belonged to Brazil thanks to him.

Charles Oliveira says he wants to fight Conor McGregor but the Irishman has not responded to him

'Du Bronx' is one of the most prolific lightweights the division has ever seen. The Brazilian holds the record for the highest number of submission wins at 16 among other records he has broken.

Oliveira has always been open to the idea of fighting Conor McGregor and according to Guilherme Cruz, the lightweight expressed interest but the Irishman did not respond to him or his team:

"Charles Oliveira on fighting Conor McGregor: I've asked for this fight and he says nothing, and I won't say it anymore. When he wants it, I'm ready."

Conor McGregor is currently gearing up for his return to the UFC. However, he may not fight in the lightweight division as he has made multiple hints that he will be making his return in the 170 lbs division. So fans may have to wait before they can see Oliveira fight 'The Notorious' inside the Octagon.
