Beneil Dariush, the current fourth-ranked lightweight fighter in the UFC, is slated to take on Charles Oliveira, a former lightweight champion, at UFC 288 on May 6th. The highly-anticipated matchup is expected to be a fierce battle between two skilled fighters looking to make their mark in the octagon.

Dariush will be looking to continue his impressive eight-fight win streak and secure a victory over the former champ, while Oliveira will be looking to regain his former glory and cement his status as one of the top fighters in the division.

Charles Oliveira, the former lightweight champion, measures 5 feet and 10 inches in height. As an orthodox fighter, he has a reach of 74 inches. Oliveira boasts an impressive professional MMA record of 33 wins, 9 losses, and 1 no-contest.

'Do Bronx' holds the UFC record for the highest number of finishes, with 19 finishes in the octagon under his belt. The Brazilian fighter's reputation as a dominant finisher has made him one of the most feared fighters in the lightweight division.

Beneil Dariush, the Iranian-American professional mixed martial artist, is also 5 feet 10 inches tall, like Oliveira. Beneil Dariush, however, has a slightly shorter reach of 72 inches as a southpaw. With a pro-MMA record of 22 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw, Dariush has been on an impressive undefeated streak since 2018, currently boasting an 8-fight win streak.

'Benny' will be looking to maintain his momentum and secure another victory against the former lightweight champion in what promises to be an intense battle in the octagon at UFC 288.

Former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira will try to bounce back from a loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 280 and snap his eight-year, 11-fight winning streak. He won the title at UFC 262 by defeating Michael Chandler and successfully defending it against Dustin Poirier at UFC 269.

However, he lost the title on a scale in his previous fight against Justin Gaethje due to a weight issue. Meanwhile, Beneil Dariush has been on a roll since 2018, winning eight straight fights, including victories over top contenders such as Tony Ferguson and Drew Dober.

Beneil Dariush swears to finish Charles Olivera at UFC 288 in order to win the lightweight title

Beneil Dariush is confident that he can defeat Charles Oliveira by finishing him in their upcoming fight. With Islam Makhachev's recent victory over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284, the lightweight division is in need of a new contender for the title.

In an interview with Submission Radio, Beneil Dariush shared his thoughts on his upcoming fight against Charles Oliveira and stated:

"They already set me up with Charles [Oliveira]. They’re talking about contracts. We’re just trying to work out the contract right now and then go forward from there… You put a tough guy like Charles Oliveira in front of me, I’m stocked. I’m not complaining too much. I look forward to fighting him, I look forward to beating him up, and I look forward to what’s next after that.”

He further added:

"I think I’m gonna get the finish in either the first or the second round. That’s how I think in my mind. I’m going to just be who I am, and then when he gets excited, I’ll get excited, and then it’ll turn into a crazy fight like everybody is talking about.”
