The newly crowned two-division world champion, 'The Warrior' Christian Lee, was recently reminded of his purpose for competing in MMA. The Singaporean-American gets his determination in the circle from his family.

After being crowned with his second world title, Lee spoke in the ONE on Prime Video 4 post-fight press conference:

"Well aside from the training, which of course is what allows me the ability to keep pushing, I feel like what helped me to dig deep when I really had to was to go back to the reason why I fight. I don't just fight for myself. I mean, I'm fighting for my family."

Christian Lee and his wife had their first child in 2021. 'The Warrior' continued:

"I'm in there fighting to provide, so there's not a second that I think about quitting when I'm in there. So as long as I still got a little bit of fight left in me, I'm going to keep pushing forward."

Lee needed to dig deep to win the welterweight crown this past weekend. He faced 'Brazen' Kiamrian Abbasov who dropped him and battered him early in the fight. Lee found strength, though, and bounced back to secure a TKO victory in the fourth round.

Christian Lee's future at welterweight

The reigning ONE lightweight world champion went up in weight and captured the welterweight throne. 'The Warrior' now fully plans on defending both world titles.

In his post-fight press conference, Lee jestingly said:

“I felt great fighting at welterweight and it's very similar to fighting at lightweight. In the lightweight division, you have a roster full of very tough opponents. At welterweight, it's much of the same, except that they are 15 pounds heavier."

Contenders in both divisions will need to be cautious when facing the dangerous Christian Lee, who continued:

"For me, I feel that I'm competitive in both divisions, and I plan on doing so for the next few fights.”
