“The rest of the fight was hers” - Christian Lee says sister Angela Lee dominated Xiong Jing Nan after a bad first round

Ahead of his light heavyweight world title matchup with Abbasov, ‘The Warrior’ Christian Lee took a step back to talk about Angela Lee’s controversial loss to Xiong Jing Nan.

At ONE on Prime Video 2, Angela Lee lost to Xiong Jing Nan by unanimous decision in their trilogy bout for the ONE women’s strawweight world title. This was Lee’s second bid for the world title, losing to Xiong three years ago at the Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Rebounding from a big knockdown in the first round, Lee fought valiantly to get herself back on the scoreboard, but it wasn’t enough to win her the world title in the eyes of the judges.

Christian Lee, who’s also been on the receiving end of a controversial loss, doubled down on the conviction that his sister won the fight and was therefore in the best position to win the world title.

He told The MMA Super Fan:

“I fully support my sister in her career and in my opinion, you know, I said it before in interviews, I do feel like she won the fight. I feel like she was pressing the action and she definitely showed she wanted to win the fight more. Aside from what happened in the first round, I feel like the rest of the fight was hers.”

Christian Lee avenged his own world title loss last August in a rematch against South Korean rival Ok Rae Yoon. When he couldn’t finish Ok in the first match 11 months prior, Lee left no doubt he was the better man with a second-round knockout at the 1:00 minute mark.

Following in his sister’s footsteps, Lee is set to make his first attempt at double gold on Friday, November 18 at ONE on Prime Video 4 against welterweight king Kiamrian Abbasov. Based on prior experience, Lee will be looking for the early finish before leaving it at the hands of the judges.

Christian Lee wants to test his skills over a bigger opponent in Kiamrian Abbasov

Christian Lee is working overtime to get his weight in check before squaring off with Kiamrian Abbasov in November.

He’s always voiced a desire to move up a weight class to contend for another world title, and Kiamrian seemed like the next logical choice for the Singapore-American athlete.

Following his recent lightweight world title match, Lee told SCMP MMA:

"I would love to test myself against the champion one division up. I’m always open to new challenges, and I think that Kiamrian Abbasov would absolutely be the toughest test of my career. I think a fight with Abbasov is going to be a war, but I think I can get it done.”

The size and power differential will be a completely new experience for Lee. But ever since his recent fight with Ok Rae Yoon at ONE 160, it seems like Lee has come into his own. He’s diversified his fighting style to include a full range of techniques, so he’ll definitely surprise Abbasov with his all-encompassing skillset.
