In Roberto Soldic’s long-awaited ONE Championship debut, Christian Lee was surprised by one aspect of the fight.

At ONE on Prime Video 5, the Croatian superstar stepped into the circle for the first time against the undefeated Murad Ramazanov. With the winner seemingly emerging as a title contender for Christian Lee’s recently earned welterweight world championship, it’s no surprise that he had eyes on this matchup.

Whilst the fight ended in a no contest following a groin strike in the opening round, one lesson we were able to take away from it was Ramazanov taking Soldic down early on in the fight.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Lee spoke about how the fight played out for the three minutes that it lasted:

“I thought that Ramazanov took Soldic down very easily. I think that it was a shock to everyone including Roberto. And I think that he’s going to be training very hard that it doesn’t happen again the second time they fight.”

As ‘The Warrior’ said, Soldic will undoubtedly be working on this aspect of his game to stop it from happening again in their rematch. If ‘Robocop’ is able to keep the fight standing, he is a serious knockout threat for anyone in the welterweight division.

Christian Lee plans to improve cardio and put on more muscle for next welterweight bout

Two-division world champion Christian Lee learned some lessons in his most recent fight that he will go away and work on in order to come back even better than before.

At ONE on Prime Video 4, the lightweight world champion stepped up to welterweight for the first time to challenge Kiamrian Abbasov. Winning a second world title by defying the odds and producing one of the comebacks of the year, Lee believes that he could be better prepared for the larger weight class.

Whilst it was an incredible display of heart and toughness, it wasn’t the performance that Christian Lee expected. Before he returns to welterweight to defend his world title, ‘The Warrior’ will work on some of his shortcomings in the weight class.

He told ONE:

“I plan on taking some time to put on good muscle that’s gonna be sustainable in the later rounds, and I don’t feel like I was at a strength disadvantage against Abbasov, but a few things had come into play with my cardio."

He added:

"Of course, the sickness was a big thing, but I also feel that adjusting to fighting at a heavier weight is gonna take some time to get used to. I’m glad that I had a bit of time to prepare before I fight at welterweight again, but the next time I do show up there, I think it’s gonna be a very different story.”
