Colby Covington recently issued a strong warning to Joaquin Buckley ahead of their matchup at UFC Tampa. Covington promised to put on a dominant performance against Buckley, claiming that the latter's previous opponents were past their prime.
Covington will take on Buckley in a welterweight contest in the last UFC event of the year, UFC Tampa, on Dec. 14 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. 'Chaos' is a former interim champion and has come up short in his three attempts at undisputed gold. He is coming off a decision loss to Leon Edwards in a title fight last year.
Meanwhile, Buckley is on a five-fight win streak and has emerged as a prospect at 170 pounds. In his last octagon outing at UFC 307, 'New Mansa' secured a second-round knockout victory against Stephen Thompson.
Ahead of their bout, Covington had this to say in a recent interview:

''The fight just looks like me completely breaking him [Buckley], taking him down, taking his will, bringing him to the deep end of the pool and drowning him. I just don't think he'll be able to keep up. He's never been in a five-round fight with an elite fighter like me. He's been fighting some guys that are past their time but I'm not pass my time, I'm in my prime. Saturday I'm going to drown this guy... I'm going to drown him and he's not going to be able to hang up with me for 25 minutes.''
