Conor McGregor blocks soccer coach over derogatory Katie Taylor comment

UFC superstar Conor McGregor blocked goal-keeping coach David Ennis on Twitter after the Irish national slammed 'The Notorious' for rallying to bring women's undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor's May 20 rematch with Amanda Serrano to Croke Park Stadium in Dublin.

Ennis responded to a recent tweet from the UFC superstar mentioning Taylor by calling him a leach:

"Leave her alone you leach."

However, getting blocked by the MMA megastar on social media doesn't seem to have deterred the women's soccer coach. In a subsequent tweet, Ennis dubbed McGregor blocking him a "Win":

"WHAT. A. FUCKING. WIN."

Conor McGregor recently offered to sponsor Taylor's rematch with the undisputed women's featherweight boxing champion Amanda Serrano.

'The Notorious' offered to step in after the high rental costs of the Gaelic Games Stadium seemed to have deterred the event's promoter, Eddie Hearn, from booking the arena for the boxing super fight.

However, in a recent interview with RTE, Hearn revealed that after his meeting with McGregor last Monday, it looks unlikely that the 'Bray Bomber' will fight at Croke Park Stadium in May:

"We talked about the numbers, cost, [and] time-frame...I do think it’s realistic for us that 20 May will be in the 3Arena. But I do think that a stadium fight will follow suit...But we want to work together to see how we can make it happen in a big stadium as well. [Transcripts via talkSport]"

Conor McGregor is set to coach the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) opposite Michael Chandler, with the duo set to lock horns in the octagon during the season finale.

Opening odds for Conor McGregor's return fight with Michael Chandler

The opening odds for Conor McGregor's highly anticipated UFC return fight against Michael Chandler sees the event as an even matchup. The Irishman has been sidelined since July 2021 after suffering a leg injury during his UFC 264 trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.

Based on the odds on DraftKings Sportsbook, both men have opened at -110. This means that a $1000 wager on either man will provide a return of $1,909.09 if the fighter wins.

Conor McGregor is currently unranked in the UFC. His last win came against the now-retired Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in 2020. The Irishman has since succumbed to two back-to-back losses to Dustin Poirier.
