UFC superstar Conor McGregor has offered to sponsor fellow Irish native Katie Taylor's boxing rematch with Amanda Serrano in the hope of ensuring the matchup takes place at the Croke Park stadium in Dublin.

In a recent Tweet, 'Notorious' offered to lend a helping hand in bringing the super fight to the Gaelic games stadium, saying:

"The extra security bill is 500k to have Katie Taylor fight at Croke park? I will sponsor the event to see this happen."

The MMA fighter's enviable act got the attention of prolific Irish boxer Dylan Moran. Moran shared McGregor's tweet hailing him as a 'legend'.

Although event promoter Eddie Hearn has previously stated that the matchup would most likely not take place in the iconic stadium due to high rental costs, Conor McGregor's offer has seemingly made him reconsider his decision.

Taylor and Serrano met for the first time in the squared circle in April 2022, with the Irishwoman being awarded a split decision win. Since then, however, the Puerto Rican has registered two pro boxing wins.

Katie Taylor currently holds an undefeated boxing record consisting of 22 wins. She is the undisputed lightweight champion of the world. Her exploits also include a gold medal win at the 2012 London Olympics.

Serrano holds an equally impressive record of 43-2-1. She is the unified featherweight champion of the world, holding WBC, WBO, IBF, IBO, and the Ring Magazine titles.

Conor McGregor's UFC return confirmed by Dana White

It looks like the long wait is over and MMA's biggest superstar Conor McGregor is finally set to return to the octagon this year.

In a recent Instagram post, the promotion's president Dana White confirmed that 'Notorious' will be coaching Season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) against Michael Chandler, with the two fighters going head-to-head in the octagon in the season finale.

However, neither a date nor a location has yet been confirmed for the McGregor vs. Chandler super fight.

The former UFC two-division champion has been out of action since breaking his leg during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021.

The Irishman currently holds a pro record of 22-6. His last win came in a 40-second TKO victory against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

'Iron' also holds an enviable record of 23-8. The former Bellator lightweight champion's last MMA win came in a second-round knockout win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.
