Conor McGregor's UFC return is rumored to be taking place this year, with his coach John Kavanagh stating that it is almost a certainty.

But former MMA referee and current Bellator MMA commentator 'Big' John McCarthy is skeptical about the Irishman's true desire to step back into the octagon.

McCarthy alluded to the reality of preparing for a matchup compared to training outside of fight camp. He believes that McGregor's lifestyle and focus are not conducive to cultivating the hunger needed to compete in the octagon.

During a recent episode of the Weighing In podcast, McCarthy said:

"I don't think Conor [McGregor] truly wants to fight anymore... It's not like money is a problem, and when you look back at getting yourself back into the gym and fighting, training for the fight... it's fun to go in the gym when it's not training. That's not what a training camp is, a training camp sucks. When you don't have that 100% focus, things don't go well for you."

Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson have been rumored to be the next coaches of The Ultimate Fighter, and a potential matchup between the pair has been discussed by many MMA pundits.

Sean O'Malley isn't excited by Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson on TUF

Sean O'Malley recently commented on rumors that Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson are set to be the next coaches of The Ultimate Fighter. The bantamweight contender stated that his interest in the possible matchup has been diminished by Ferguson's current losing streak.

'El Cucuy' was the most feared man in the UFC lightweight division between 2013 and 2019, as he went on a 12-fight win streak. But Ferguson has suffered five consecutive losses, which O'Malley stated makes the possibility of 'El Cucuy' appearing on TUF less attractive.

During a recent episode of the BroMalley podcast, he said this:

"Tony's last five fights - lost to Nate Diaz, lost to Michael Chandler, lost to Beneil Dariush, lost to Charles Oliveira, lost to Justin Gaethje... He's lost to straight killers, but I don't think you can make him a coach, dude. I just don't think - with five Ls in a row? It just doesn't sound good"
