Donald Cerrone is coming back. Yes, you read that right. 'Cowboy', who announced his retirement in a heartfelt post-fight interview in 2022, is now gearing up to make a return to the octagon.
So far, Cerrone (36-17) has 48 combined appearances in the UFC and WEC. He now plans to reach a landmark of 50 fights.
This is big news as the crowd-pleasing UFC Hall of Famer is one of the few non-champions to reach household name status in the company. The man holds multiple UFC records, including the most post-fight bonuses combined in UFC/WEC history with 23.
Sporting a full head of hair and the grit to rile up an army, Donald Cerrone lined up his plans for his return in a short video posted on Instagram.
In the video, Cerrone said:
"I want to go back and get two more fights. When I retired, I told you I was getting my hair done and get on steroids. The number 50 [has] been sitting at my mind for a while..,The last two years taking TRT and a bunch of peptides. Now we got a protocol for all you people that, 'Oh what if you get on you can never come off?' Well, I now have to come off and piss clean. Fight in a few months. So watch this."
Fans and the media are loving this, with MMA media personality Charlie Quinn proposing the perfect match-up for the return of 'Cowboy':
"Cowboy Cerrone vs Tony Ferguson please"
Meanwhile, Arfa Yusufzai is just excited about this announcement:
"Donald Cerrone coming out of retirement for two more fights is exciting! 👊 #UFC #MMA"

Like Donald Cerrone, Tony Ferguson also got a hair transplant
Interestingly, the man most fans are clamoring for Donald Cerrone to face in his comeback, Tony Ferguson, also got a hair transplant procedure done. It seems this rematch wouldn't be just a battle of skills, but also a battle of better hair.
Ferguson posted about his hair transplant procedure about a month ago on Instagram:
Kidding aside, this might be the best match-up for both fighters. 'El Cucuy' is on a historic eight-fight losing streak while 'Cowboy' was on a seven-fight skid as well (6 losses, 1 NC) before he retired.
The two first faced each other in 2019 at UFC 238 where Ferguson won via TKO after Cerrone was deemed unable to continue due to a busted nose and swollen eye. The win was the end of Ferguson's legendary 12-fight winning streak and subsequently the beginning of Donald Cerrone's losing streak.
