Darren Till has potentially teased a transition to professional boxing.

The MMA community was surprised to learn that Till had been removed from the UFC roster earlier this week. It was unclear at first whether the 30-year-old was cut or taken off the roster for a different reason. Since then, ‘The Gorilla’ revealed that he asked to be released, and the UFC agreed.

Now that Till is a free agent, he has plenty of options for his next fight. The Liverpool native hinted at his future on Twitter:

When the news broke about Till leaving the UFC, there was speculation about his recent slump being a factor. The former welterweight title challenger cleared the air on Twitter:

“What’s happening everyone, Me, Dana & Hunter are still cool as fuck. I asked UFC 2 remove me just 2 sort some other shit for the foreseeable, They happily agreed to release me out of contract which I appreciate. I’m not going anywhere, got big plans to execute & I’ll be back."

After going unbeaten in his first six UFC fights, Till lost a world championship opportunity against Tyron Woodley in September 2018. He went on to lose his next fight against Jorge Masvidal before bouncing back with a split-decision win against Kelvin Gastelum. ‘The Gorilla’ has now lost three consecutive fights against Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson, and Dricus Du Plessis.

Fans want to see Darren Till fight Mike Perry

Despite his recent losing streak, Darren Till is a free agent that many promotions will want to negotiate with. Fans have already begun recommending potential matchups for Till, with one fighter being suggested numerous times on Twitter:

“Mike Perry vs Darren Till in BKFC The time is now.”
“fight @PlatinumPerry in @bareknucklefc , that'd be legendary”
“darren till vs mike perry boxing match”
“Perry vs Till would actually be such a good fight and build up”
“Mike Perry scrap. Get on it”

Mike Perry has found tremendous success since parting ways with the UFC in 2021. ‘Platinum’ defeated Michael Seals at Triad Combat 1, Julian Lane at BKFC: Knuckle Mania 2, and Michael ‘Venum’ Page at BKFC 27. The matchup against Till is also being recommended because the two fighters had some heated exchanges several years ago.
