Demetrious Johnson discusses Jon Jones vs. Islam Makhachev pound-for-pound debate

The ESPN MMA list wasn't the only thing that Demetrious Johnson weighed in on as he recently shared his thoughts on the ongoing Jon Jones vs. Islam Makhachev pound-for-pound debate.

While speaking with Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson on his Mighty podcast, the reigning ONE flyweight champion discussed the pound-for-pound debate. Johnson mentioned that Jones being discussed for the No.1 spot has more to do with his career as a whole rather than his activity, which is why he believes the lightweight champion is more deserving. He said:

"There's got to be a point in time where somebody's achievements and how active they have been fighting and defending the belt has to overcome the past, right? Because then Jon Jones will always be the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world even if he never fights. Currently right now, at the top of the list it should be Islam Makhachev."
