Dustin Poirier - UFC 269: Oliveira v Poirier

Dustin Poirier is set to make his broadcasting debut as a desk analyst this Saturday at UFC 287, which takes place at the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Florida.

The former interim lightweight champion is coming off a third-round submission win over former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler. He will definitely provide a wealth of knowledge, especially as it pertains to his friend and American Top Team teammate Jorge Masvidal, who will take on Gilbert Burns in the co-main event.

'The Diamond' will join a desk team that consists of broadcaster Michael Eaves and MMA coach Din Thomas. On the commentary side of things, Joe Rogan will make his return to the broadcast team as it;'s a domestic event, and will join Jon Anik and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier.

It remains to be seen whether Poirier will become a fixture on the UFC's broadcasts going forward or if it is just a one-off deal.

Justin Gaethje wants a rematch with Dustin Poirier

Justin Gaethje has made it clear that he would be open to a rematch with Dustin Poirier and believes that it's a logical fight to book next.

'The Highlight' most recently earned a majority decision over Rafael Fiziev at UFC 286 last month, which earned both fighters a bonus for Fight of the Night. He bounced back from his title fight loss to then lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and remains in the mix for a future title shot as he snapped Fiziev's impressive winning streak.

Gaethje and Poirier's first encounter took place in 2018, which saw 'The Diamond' earn a fourth-round TKO. It was an incredible fight and both fighters ended up going on a winning streak after that. 'The Diamond' went on to defeat Eddie Alvarez and then Max Holloway to become interim lightweight champion.

Despite the loss, 'The Highlight' regrouped and went on to win four straight bouts via KO/TKO, which included a fifth-round TKO over Tony Ferguson to become interim lightweight champion. Unfortunately, for both, they shared the same fate as they were submitted by then lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in their respective title unification bouts.
