'The Notorious' has recently been in close contact with the head of Matchroom Boxing. McGregor, who's competed in boxing in the past on occasion, has taken an interest in Katie Taylor. 'KT' is another Irish superstar who recently returned home over the weekend.

In fact, part of the reason the female champion could return home was thanks to the Irishman. McGregor sponsored Taylor's return against Chantelle Cameron and helped raise funds to rent the 3Arena in Dublin.

For the event, Conor McGregor sat next to Eddie Hearn. In an interview with iFL TV, the promoter revealed that he had a brief disagreement with the MMA fighter over Gary Cully. 'The Diva' suffered a massive upset knockout loss to Jose Felix Jr. earlier on the card.

Recalling the conversation in the interview, Hearn stated:

"I had a bit of a row, a friendly row, with Conor McGregor. Because he was like, 'What did you put him in with him for?', like look, you have to beat kids like that. Tyrone McKenna beat him, Sandor Martin beat him, we're talking about Gary Cully being a world-class lightweight. You have to beat guys like that."

Conor McGregor reacts to Katie Taylor's shocking loss

Conor McGregor has praised Katie Taylor after her loss to Chantelle Cameron.

'KT' returned to the boxing ring over the weekend to move up in weight to face 'Capo.' While Taylor was the hometown favorite, she was shockingly outworked en route to a majority decision loss on Saturday.

However, it was hard to feel like it was that big of a defeat. Taylor moved up in weight and came up short, with many fans feeling the Irish star deserved the nod. That's the viewpoint that 'The Notorious' seemingly holds towards the fight.

In an interview with BBC Radio Five Live, Conor McGregor stated:

"Sport won tonight; it was a great one. A very close fight. Katie went up a weight at the drop of a hat to make this event happen. She didn't have time to build up to the weight. She took a chance. We had it a draw there. The nerves at the start of the fight set her back. She wasn't Katie at the start. She was Katie from midway on when she started to come on into her own. Close fight, but I'd call it a draw."
