Dana White has been among the most successful combat sports promoters in the 21st century. The UFC CEO, who has led the company to become a global phenomenon, recently revealed that he plans to enter the boxing world. It was announced that he will co-promote the upcoming superfight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Eddie Hearn, who is one of boxing's biggest promoters in the modern era, recently claimed that the title of co-promoter is in name only, as Turki Alalshikh is the true promoter. During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, the chairman of Matchroom Sport was asked if he would have liked to promote the bout.

Hearn said:

"Oh, yeah, of course. Who wouldn't? It's a fantastic fight. The reality is the promoter of this fight is Turki Alalshikh. Whenever there's a Riyadh Season event or Ring Magazine event, all the decisions are made from His Excellency. I've been involved. You actually don't get much of an opportunity to make any decisions because he makes them all for you. Everything down to the design of the promos to the onsale ticket dates to the venue."

Hearn continued:

"They're financially bankrolling the event so they're going to be making all the decisions. I think it's a good look to have Dana doing it. You're kind of a guest promoter and that's really what a lot of us are when we do Riyadh Season or Ring Magazine events. So, should I be doing it? No, not really. Dana's got a much bigger profile than me in America so I get the move."

Hearn added that he would not be able to serve as a promoter due to his exclusive deal with DAZN, while the bout will be aired on Netflix. He noted that White serving as a co-promoter is good for the sport.
