Former UFC fighter Mike Perry has taken to Twitter to pay tribute to an Orange County Deputy who tragically passed away last weekend.

The deputy, Michael Milmerstadt, reportedly started suffering severe headaches whilst at the gym. It was later revealed that he had suffered a brain injury which immediately required him to be on life support.

Soon after, Milmerstadt's family decided to say goodbye to him and stated it was their wish that he would be able to save the lives of others through organ donations.

The Orange County Sheriff's office shared a statement on social media which confirmed that up to eight people would likely be saved from Milmerstadt's heroic organ donations.

"Deputy Michael Milmerstadt gave the ultimate gift today - one that could save the lives of up to eight people. The organ donation was completed this morning, & we now begin the process of laying him to rest. His family has a long road ahead."

'Platinum' Mike Perry, who was born in Orlando, Florida, has been rallying up support across his social media for the family of Michael Milmerstadt. Upon learning of his death and organ donation, the former UFC welterweight shared a statement from the Orange County Sheriff's Instagram story.

In part, it reads:

"Mike loved his family, loved his work and his colleagues, and loved Mixed Martial Arts. His dedication to all of those things made him a great husband, father, deput and fighter."

Former UFC fighter Mike Perry to face Luke Rockhold at BKFC 41

Mike Perry is truly benefitting from free agency as he's been offered multiple opportunities since his UFC release in 2021. 'Platinum' has so far taken part in two fights for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), as well as appearing on Triller's boxing vs. MMA card in November 2021.

The popular fighter has so far won all of his bouts post-UFC, including a notable win over Bellator's Michael 'Venom' Page at BKFC 27: London.

The 31-year-old is now currently preparing for perhaps the biggest fight of his BKFC career as he is set to take on Luke Rockhold at BKFC 41 next month.

The bout is Rockhold's first since leaving the UFC, calling time on his career in the organization after losing to Paulo Costa with a valiant display last year. The co-main event also features more former UFC stars, with Chad Mendes and Eddie Alvarez set to face-off.
