John Lineker climbed to the top of the mountain at ONE: Lights Out in March, defeating ONE legend Bibiano Fernandes to capture the bantamweight world championship. But as they say, climbing to the top is one thing, staying there is a whole other monster.

Before looking towards his U.S. primetime main event on Friday, ONE Championship looks back at the meteoric rise of ‘Hands of Stone’ inside the Circle.

Attempting to kick John Linekar off the top is No.2-ranked bantamweight Fabricio ‘Wonder Boy’ Andrade. Going into the main event showdown with an undefeated record under the ONE banner and three straight knockouts, Andrade is ready to make the most of his moment against the heavy-handed veteran with more than 15 years of experience and a trail of bodies behind him.

With seven finishes and six knockouts combined, the safe bet is that Friday’s ONE on Prime Video 3 headliner will not need the full 25 minutes allotted to them. Fabricio Andrade doesn’t believe they’ll need more than one before someone goes to sleep in what is sure to be a striker’s delight.

John Lineker earned his nickname before he was a teenager

With an incredible 17 career knockouts in his storied mixed martial arts career, one would believe John Lineker got his ‘Hands of Stone’ moniker for his reputation inside the cage. However, he actually earned the name while sparring as a 12-year-old budding boxer.

During an interview with ONE Championship, Lineker revealed the origin of his famous nickname, saying:

“That nickname started in boxing. I started boxing at 12 years old, and I was very small and skinny, but I always sparred with athletes older and heavier than me. So, when I hit them, they said that my hand was too heavy, especially for my age and height. And then they started to say that my hand felt like a stone."

Needless to say, John Lineker has more than earned the moniker over the years, demolishing competitors left and right over the last 15 years. At ONE on Prime Video 3, he’ll look to add another name to that list in an attempt to keep ONE gold wrapped firmly around his waist.
