Aljamain Sterling is dissatisfied that Sean O'Malley received an immediate rematch against Merab Dvalishvili. Still, Sterling, who lost his UFC bantamweight strap to O'Malley in 2023, did not receive the same opportunity.
'Funk Master' now wants to run in back with 'Suga' at 145 pounds.
Sterling, who is best friends with 'The Machine,' was present in his corner and witnessed the Georgian submit O'Malley in Round 3 of their rematch at UFC 316.
'Funk Master' finds it strange that 'Suga,' who claimed not to be a "100%" the first time against Dvalishvili, was given another chance, which he was denied in the past, as O'Malley did not want an immediate rematch against Sterling.

After O'Malley's loss at UFC 316, Sterling took a dig at the former and also called him out to run it back. He posted on X:
"Weird, right? Somehow Sean gets a rematch after saying he wasn't 100%. Him and the company knew I wasn't 100% and I STILL gave him the opportunity to become champ. But it's "coping" when I say it. People are weird and bias. But if he doesn't plan to come up, then he can retire with the win, and I'm fine with that."

Merab Dvalishvili believes Sean O'Malley "got lucky" against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292
During the UFC 316 post-fight presser, Merab Dvalishvili lauded his longtime friend and training partner Aljamain Sterling for his constant support. 'The Machine' also stated that Sterling was two times better than Sean O'Malley, and 'Suga' got lucky against Sterling when the two clashed in 2023.
"Aljo was sparring with me three times a week. He was two times better than Sean. That's proof that not always the best fighter wins. O'Malley just got lucky."
