Gilbert Burns called out Belal Muhammad and Jorge Masvidal after the recently concluded UFC 283. However, the Brazilian made it clear that his primary target is Colby Covington.
At UFC 283, Burns stood up against No.12-ranked welterweight contender Neil Magny and defeated his opponent via arm-triangle choke submission in the very first round of the match.
Soon after the fight, in his post-fight octagon interview with Daniel Cormier, 'Durinho' called out former title challenger Colby Covington for a scrap.
Burns expressed his desire for a successful 2023 in the UFC to earn himself a title fight.
In a conversation with UFC's McKenzie Pavacich following his latest victory, the Brazilian fighter stated that if Colby Covington is unwilling to face him, he would be open to fighting Belal Muhammad or Jorge Masvidal.
Calling out the two welterweights, the 36-year-old said:
"Give me Colby Covington...because these guys are just running. If Colby doesn't want, if UFC doesn't want this fight, give me Belal, give me Masvidal... I don't care. But I want a busy year and I want to establish [myself]. I don't want no favor, I want to establish myself as the next guy fighting for the title. So, if Colby is... running, give me Belal Muhammad, give me Masvidal."

Gilbert Burns recalls a conversation with "super-cool" Covington recently
At the UFC 283 post-fight press conference, Gilbert Burns expressed his surprise at Colby Covington's amicable attitude. The lightweight champion noted that Covington had a much different attitude than his usual 'bad-mouth' persona in the UFC.
Narrating his interaction, Burns said:
"I saw Colby three months and a half ago, [I was at] a Brazilian concert in Florida, and I think he had just left the poker room. I was passing by, and I looked and was like, 'That's Colby over there.' I looked at him, and he shook his head and said, ‘Come here.’ I said, 'Oh s—t it's on,' and I walked over there... I was ready."
Burns further continued:
"I don't know what I was gonna say, but Colby said, 'I'm a huge fan, brother.' He was super cool. Um, I'm pretty honest right now. I don't have to lie. He was super cool."
