Ahead of his clash against Jake Paul this weekend, Anderson Silva expressed an interest in competing against fellow MMA legend Georges St-Pierre inside a boxing ring.

At their height in the sport, 'The Spider' and 'GSP' were considered the two greatest mixed martial artists to ever walk the planet, and sitting just one weight class apart, fans began angling for a fight between the pair. Although the idea was favored amongst the UFC top brass, it unfortunately never came to fruition.

While sitting down to answer questions during the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva press conference, the Brazilian entertained a potential bout against Georges St-Pierre, insisting that as long as he's out of his UFC contract, it's an option.

"Wow, I think that's [a] good [idea]... First of all, we need to check it out [to make sure] 'GSP' is out [of] the contract with UFC. Because I think 'GSP' can come and do something special, the same as us."

Silva and St-Pierre have always been cordial with one another, but millions will likely enjoy watching them finally face off after all these years, albeit in the sport of boxing.

While the idea may seem like a great one, the 47-year-old Brazilian must first get past the dangerous, much younger, and arguably much hungrier Jake Paul if he wants to push forward with his impressive career.

How well has Anderson Silva adapted to the sport of boxing?

Although he competed in boxing on two occasions back in 1998 and 2005, Anderson Silva gained respect in the ring just last year.

Coming in as a 1-1 boxer with years of MMA experience behind him, the future UFC Hall of Famer proved he belonged when he beat the former WBC middleweight champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., via decision.

While his next bout was a step down in competition, Silva managed to make light work of mixed martial arts veteran Tito Ortiz with a quick first-round knockout, solidifying himself as a legitimate boxer.

The Brazil native can further prove himself in the ring when his collision against the controversial Jake Paul serves as the headliner of the boxing event set to take place on October 29.
