ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks views Demetrious Johnson as the greatest to ever do it and feels a tinge of regret he was not able to compete against him in ONE Championship before 'Mighty Mouse' called it a career.

'The Monkey God' touched on the matter in an interview with the Bangkok Post ahead of his flyweight debut at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6 in Thailand, saying what Johnson did in flyweight was nothing short of spectacular and how he wished that he got to share the Circle with him.

Brooks said:

"It does suck, and it does put a little bit of salt in my mouth. But at the same time Demetrious Johnson did what he did at the amount of time that he did it , so yeah, he's the GOAT. He's always been the GOAT."

He will go up against veteran flyweight fighter Reece McLaren of Australia in a scheduled three-rounder, part of the offering set to take place at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium and air live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

By going up to flyweight, interim strawweight champion Brooks looks to set up his push to become a two-division world champion. A victory should thrust himself for a world title shot outright, with the flyweight strap currently vacant with the recent retirement of Johnson.

Jarred Brooks enters ONE Fight Night 26 fresh from claiming the interim strawweight belt in August with a first-round submission win over Gustavo Balart of Cuba.
