ONE Championship: "He will be tested immediately" - Lito Adiwang on why Reece McLaren is the 'perfect' opponent for Jarred Brooks at flyweight

Lito Adiwang thinks Jarred Brooks won't just be dipping his toes in the water in his flyweight debut - he's gonna jump right into the deep end against one of the division's mainstays.

The interim ONE strawweight MMA world champion steps out of his usual bracket in search of a victory and a crack at two-division dominance at ONE Fight Night 26.

Never one to sell himself short, 'The Monkey God' is getting confident with each passing day as his clash against the No. 4-ranked Reece McLaren inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, draws to a near.

However, Adiwang believes Jarred Brooks, a former rival of his, will need to take it a notch down with McLaren's all-around brilliance.

Per the Filipino firecracker, the Australian veteran will be just the test Jarred Brooks needs to see whether he can put his money where his mouth is. In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, he said:

"I think Reece is the perfect opponent for Jarred. It won't be a good look if he will be given a weak opponent."

The Bali-based talent continued:

"At least he will be tested immediately in his first match in the flyweight division, and we will see if he can really deal with their size, their weight, and their skill."

Jarred Brooks may have all the tools to get his flyweight campaign off to a flyer. But Adiwang's take isn't too farfetched.

The Indiana native will have to make up for where he lacks in size. Of course, it is quite a task with talents like Adriano Moraes, Yuya Wakamatsu, Danny Kingad, and McLaren certainly equalling Brooks nearly everywhere.

It'll be much more than just fighting inside the pocket or trying to draw his opponents in the vault, he'll potentially need to alter his game in its entirety.

However, if history is anything to go by, no task seems to be too big for Jarred Brooks.
