Henry Cejudo doesn't see any reason for people to dismiss his chances against Alexander Volkanovski. 'Triple C' recently claimed that he'd be a tougher outing for 'The Great' compared to the reigning lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev.

At UFC 284 last weekend, Volkanovski came up short against Makhachev in his bid to become a two-division champion. However, the 34-year-old Australian tested the 31-year-old Dagestani unlike any other opponent and also maintained his top spot in the UFC's pound-for-pound rankings.

Nevertheless, Henry Cejudo does not feel deterred by Volkanovski’s immense performance and is hoping to face 'The Great' in the octagon in the near future. The former bantamweight and flyweight champion recently claimed that he intends to become a three-division champion by defeating Volkanovski at featherweight.

In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, 'Triple C' outlined the reasons why he believes he would be a tougher opponent for the Australian:

"So, a lot of people are dismissing me now?... Guess what? Islam’s not an Olympic champion. Guess what? Islam doesn’t have my striking. Guess what? He’s not faster than me. Guess what? Yeah, he is bigger than me, but I’m a smaller target."

Henry Cejudo is expected to return to the UFC octagon this year following his 2020 retirement bid. 'Triple C' has been linked to a fight against bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling but nothing has been officially announced.

Henry Cejudo and Demetrius Johnson discuss Islam Makhachev's title reign

Henry Cejudo recently weighed in on Islam Makhachev's championship success and claimed that factors other than his fighting merit played a part in him getting a "speed pass" to the title shot.

The reigning lightweight champion successfully defended his title for the first time against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284. However, Makhachev was taken into deep waters by the Australian, whom he also failed to dislodge from the No.1 spot in the pound-for-pound rankings.

In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Henry Cejudo discussed the Dagestani grappling maestro's championship run:

"Makhachev has never... Like they gave that dude a speed pass to fight for the title. Yeah, for Islam. And then now all of a sudden he’s No.2 pound-for-pound and now he’s pound-for-pound [No.1]. It makes no sense, this guy has never gone five rounds."

Johnson jumped in, affirming Cejudo's point:

"You’re actually kind of right because he never fought Beneil, he never fought Charles, he never fought the hierarchy of the division. We say that because it does make sense."
