MMA fans have been reacting to Paulo Costa's appearance at a New York Mets game, which saw the Brazilian throw a wild and wayward first pitch. 'Borrachinha' is currently set to face Sean Strickland this weekend at UFC 302 in Newark, New Jersey. Ahead of their clash, Costa was given the honor of throwing the first pitch at the New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers game.

Whilst the Brazilian was certainly dressed for the part, his throw, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired as it flew high into the air and completely missed the catcher's glove.

Following his pitch, Costa shared his disappointed reaction whilst speaking on episode 3 of the UFC 302 'Embedded' mini series on YouTube. He said:

"I just missed that, guys. I have no excuse. I'm not good on that." [06:20]

Fans also had their say about Paulo Costa's blunderous attempt, with one fan hilariously claiming it reminded him of Costa's performance against Israel Adesnaya. They wrote:

"Reminds me of how he did against Adesanya🤣🤣"

Another fan compared the throw to Conor McGregor's, who infamously threw a similar pitch at a Chicago Cubs game in 2021:

"Conor was just as bad. Baseball & football😂"

Another fan said:

"Least he looked good doing it!!"

One fan wrote:

"One of the side effects of secret juice"

Another said:

"Bro chose the wrong shirt for this!"

Sean Strickland is ready to "die" against Paulo Costa at UFC 302

In typical Sean Strickland style, the former middleweight champion has refused to mince his words ahead of his bout against Paulo Costa.

The two middleweights are heading into their clash on the back of losses, with Strickland narrowly losing his 185-pound title via split-decision to Dricus Du Plessis and Costa coming up short in a back-and-forth contest against Robert Whittaker.

With both men now hellbent on returning to winning ways and making another push for the title, 'Tarzan' has echoed that same sentiment. Speaking on the UFC 302 Countdown on YouTube, Strickland made a bold claim in regards to how far he's willing to go. He said:

"UFC 302, man, it's going to be a bloodbath. I think that me and Paulo Costa, we're going to go in the deep water. It's going to be a 25-minute war. I think we're both going to be looking at each other in that third, fourth round, thinking, 'F**k, we got one more round.' But mentally, as always, I'm ready to die for what I want. And I think I'm going to pick him apart."
