The stakes are high in the UFC 286 main event as Edwards and Usman will lock horns inside the octagon for a third time. Their first encounter took place in December 2015. 'The Nigerian Nightmare' walked away with a victory that night as he cruised to a unanimous decision victory.
The two 170lbers fought in a rematch at UFC 278 last August. This time, the UFC welterweight title was on the line. 'Rocky' shocked the world by knocking Usman out cold in the last minute of the fight to claim the welterweight belt.
The co-main event will feature a lightweight banger as Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev get set to slug it out for three rounds. Considering the exciting fighting style of the two athletes, the matchup is sure to deliver fireworks.
Other intriguing matchups on the fight card include Marvin Vettori vs. Roman Dolidze, Gunnar Nelson vs. Bryan Barberena and Muhammad Mokaev vs. Jafel Filho.
Leon Edwards weighs in on the high ticket prices for UFC 286
Many MMA fans have raised questions regarding the highly priced tickets for the UFC 286 event. The controversy also reached Leon Edwards, who is set to headline the event against Kamaru Usman.
During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Edwards shared his thoughts on the ticket prices. 'Rocky' revealed that people had reached out to him regarding the high figures.
According to him, the tickets should have been made more affordable:
“For me, I don’t understand why they’re so high. I think ringside, before it went on sale, was like four thousand pounds or dollars. That’s a lot of money, you know? It would be worth it if the fighters got paid more, but it all just goes back to the UFC anyway. People have been messaging me saying, ’Why is it so expensive?’ I’m like, ‘Mate, I’m not making the prices.' But, yeah, it’s not good for the fans that can’t afford it. But it will still be a good show either way."
