Clay Guida is quickly closing in on the current UFC record for the most takedowns in a career and has his sights set on chasing down Georges St-Pierre.

'GSP' currently holds the takedown record in the organization with 90 career takedowns, but Guida isn't far behind with 76.

The first fighter Guida needs to catch is Gleison Tibau, with Tibau having 84 UFC takedowns. 'The Carpenter' has stated that the record is important to him despite there being no official reward for the achievement (transcribed via MMA Junkie):

"I believe the next guy in front of us is Gleison Tibau, and I know GSP has the most, so we’re picking away at it. Those things are important goals for me."

During his latest UFC outing, Clay Guida managed to beat Scott Holtzman at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Holland this weekend. Holtzman lost via split decision in a close bout, which allowed Guida to get back in the win column after suffering a defeat against Claudio Puelles.

Guida is currently 40 years old and has fought under the UFC banner since 2006. He debuted against Justin James at UFC 64: Unstoppable. However, 'The Carpenter' has no interest in retiring anytime soon and clearly wants to continue fighting to chase down Georges St-Pierre's record.

Does Clay Guida have a positive win/loss record in the UFC?

Clay Guida currently has a positive record in the UFC, with 'The Carpenter' holding 18 wins and 16 losses in the organization. Guida has fought under the UFC banner for many years now and never turns down a fight against tough opposition, hence the unattractive record.

Clay Guida has remained active in the organization despite his advanced years. However, Guida is still a competitive fighter, beating the likes of BJ Penn, Michael Johnson, Leonardo Santos, and Scott Holtzman since 2019.

The American's best run of form came back in 2010, when the now 40-year-old beat Shannon Gugerty, Rafael dos Anjos, Takanori Gomi, and Anthony Pettis in back-to-back bouts.
