Alexander Volkanovski is the P4P best fighter in the UFC at the moment. The Australian holds the featherweight title and is looking to challenge for the lightweight title soon and become a multi-division champion.

'The Great' stands at 5 feet 6 inches tall and is 34 years old. He weighs around 145 lbs, which is the weight limit for the featherweight division but has no problem going up to 155 lbs.

Alexander Volkanovski was not always an MMA expert, in fact, he started off his career as a semi-pro forward for a rugby league and would take on men thrice his weight and size. The Australian weighed around 200 lbs during this time and was very good at what he did. Larger men usually play the forward position since they have to get into the most tackles.

Many credit Volkanovski's explosiveness and sheer strength to his rugby days. It is a factor that makes him one of the best in the division as he usually outpowers his opponents and surprises them with his explosiveness. Volkanovski is currently set to fight against the newly crowned lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

The pair will fight in the main event of UFC 284 on 12 February 2023. The fight will see Volkanovski challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov's protege for his newly acquired lightweight belt.

Islam Makhachev has issued a warning to Alexander Volkanovski as he started his fight camp for UFC 284

Islam Makhachev has begun training for his UFC 284 main event clash against Alexander Volkanovski. This will be Makhachev's first title defense against a formidable opponent in the P4P best in the UFC. The lightweight champion had a message for his Australian opponent as he started his fight camp:

"Fight camp is on., be ready short guy"

Khabib Nurmagomedov's protege has a 4-inch height advantage over the Australian, coming at 5 feet 10 inches, or 1.79 m. Islam Makhachev has repeatedly called Alexander Volkanovski 'short guy' to establish that he has a height and reach advantage over 'The Great' and is not threatened by him. Makhachev looked much bigger than Charles Oliveira in his last fight.

It helped him greatly in the ring, especially when he took the Brazilian down. He will look to implement the same Sambo style against Volkanovski, who himself is a great wrestler, making this an amazing match to watch.
