Sinsamut Klinmee is looking to defend his spot in the ONE lightweight Muay Thai division on his return at ONE Fight Night 25.
The former two-time title challenger is hoping to bounce back from a tough result last time out. The Thai striker was ahead against Dmitry Menshikov until he was stopped in the third round, but that hasn't discouraged him.
Now, on Oct. 4, he draws the task of welcoming Youssef Assouik to the promotion for his debut.
The 29-year-old contender arrives in ONE Championship with a strong pedigree based on what he has achieved outside of the promotion. As a former two-division ISKA world champion, he defeated Jimmy Vienot this year to earn a signature win.
However, no titles are going to bother Sinsamut, who has also competed at the very top level in his weight class.
He gave his thoughts on Assouik's accomplishments in a recent interview with ONE Championship:
"I don't care much because almost all athletes in ONE achieve many accolades and used to be a champion. Don't forget that I used to fight with Regian Eersel who is the world champion. So I'm unfazed about those titles."
Sinsamut will look to show levels in this fight
It's a huge task for Youssef Assouik to arrive in ONE Championship and instantly hit the ground running against Sinsamut Klinmee.
The 28-year-old competitor has been fighting the best of the best at lightweight for several years at this stage. Though Assouik certainly has the potential to do the same, we will find out where he fits in amongst the top contenders in this division on Oct. 4.
At Lumpinee Stadium, Sinsamut will look to send his opponent down the division's rankings rather than having him take his spot at the top.
A win for either man puts them into the title picture given the caliber of both fighters.
ONE Fight Night 25 will air live in US primetime free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in North America.
