Former long-time ONE bantamweight champion Bibiano Fernandes is preparing for his first fight since relinquishing his title to John Lineker earlier this year. 'The Flash' hopes to showcase his improvements in his upcoming appearance.

Fernandes, the current No.3-ranked bantamweight contender, is scheduled to face off against No. 5-ranked Stephen Loman at ONE on Prime Video 4.

The 42-year-old recently spoke with ONE Championship regarding why he's excited to get back in the circle. Fernandes said:

“Since the defeat, I’ve been training a lot. I also focused on my business and my family, and I did an MMA event in Manaus, but I’ve been training a lot. I made several adjustments, and I’m ready to fight on November 18.”

The former two-time bantamweight king spends his time sharpening his skills at the AMC Pankration gym in Kirkland, Washington.

Bibiano Fernandes believes his grappling will be superior

Fernandes is easily one of the most decorated grapplers on ONE's roster, having won 11 gold medals in elite competitions. That includes three IBJJF World Championships as a black belt.

He told ONE that his grappling will serve as a huge edge in his upcoming fight:

“I’m sure my grappling is far superior to his grappling. I’m sure he’s working hard not to be taken down, but I’m prepared and focused for this fight. I’m training a lot my striking and my ground game. I’m going to test his grappling, his wrestling, and his striking. I’m sure I’ll have a good fight against him. If he messes up, I’ll finish him.”

Over the years, Bibiano Fernandes has tallied an impressive record of 12-2 in ONE. His most notable victories came against the likes of Kevin Belingon, Martin Nguyen, and Reece McLaren.

Meanwhile, his upcoming opponent is far less experienced, with a record of just 2-0 under the ONE banner. Loman's wins were over Yusup Saadulaev and Shoko Sato. Expect him to be a worthy challenger for the former champion.

Fans can watch MMA legend Bibiano Fernandes take on rising contender Stephen Loman in a pivotal bantamweight matchup at ONE on Prime Video 4. The event is set for November 18, live from Singapore Indoor Stadium.
