Popular comedian Andrew Schulz recently reacted to the acquittal of Daniel Penny in the case of the death of Jordan Neely, a man he put in a UFC-style chokehold on a New York Subway train. On May 1, 2023, the 26-year-old former Marine took action when the mentally unstable Neely started aggressively threatening passengers on the train, putting him in a rear-naked choke that eventually made him unconscious. Witness statements said that Neely, a man with a history of mental illness and multiple arrests, literally told everyone that he would hurt them, which prompted the former marine to intervene.Police tried to revive Neely on the scene but later declared him dead once they reached a nearby hospital. In Schulz's podcast, FLAGRANT, the comedian and his co-hosts discussed whether Penny was justified in his actions or did he go too far.Shulz said:"How do you know? I don't know what too far is. He's also not a UFC fighter who's choking people out all the time and knows when they're f**king done."Schulz's co-host interjected that Penny is a former marine and should have known when to let go of the choke. In response, Schulz said:"That doesn't mean he's a UFC fighter. I don't think that you're jiu-jitsuing the Taliban."Check out the full conversation below (1:42:05):Former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington reacts to Daniel Penny's acquittalThe public has been divided on the Daniel Penny-Jordan Neely case, with many saying it's racially-motivated manslaughter while others saw a marine merely protecting the public. Penny was facing two charges: one count of second-degree manslaughter and one count of criminally negligent homicide. The jury was deadlocked on the first charge and couldn't come up with a unanimous verdict, which prompted the judge to allow them to deliberate on just the second charge. The internet exploded when the news broke out that the former Marine had been found not guilty of negligent homicide, allowing him to walk scot-free.While others were outraged by this, former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington was happy about it, writing on X:"Daniel Penny is a FREE MAN and a HERO!! God Bless America"Covington has been an outspoken supporter of the U.S. police force and the armed forces, openly talking about his disdain for people who are antagonizing the police and the military. It's no surprise he's supportive of Penny's acquittal.
