Eddie Hearn was caught in the crossfire, as he has signed Hitchins to his promotional company, Matchroom Boxing. Hearn will also operate as Kambosos Jr.'s co-promoter.

Following the chaotic press event, Hearn was interviewed by Fight Hype backstage, where he said:

"We've got to always try and keep a little lid on it. Shout out to Richardson, because he's talking that talk... I think George was like, 'Look, the talking's done. Let's go.' And Richardson stuck it on him. Then he got in his face, and George isn't the kind of guy where you can just step to him in his space. Sooner or later he's going to react."
