Alexis Nicolas plans to make a statement at ONE Fight Night 25.
After shocking the world in April by scoring a unanimous decision victory over Regian 'The Immortal' Eersel to claim the ONE lightweight kickboxing world championship, 'Barboza' will look to prove to the world that he is the undisputed champion when the two world-class strikers rematch on Oct. 4.
Nicolas and Eersel will headline another loaded fight card airing live and exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in the United States and Canada.
Speaking with ONE Championship ahead of their highly anticipated rematch, Nicolas made it clear that at ONE Fight Night 25, he's coming for Eersel's head.
"You don't see if he could touch me," Nicolas said. "I touched him more. I cannot knock him out from there. So it was a good fight. It was the fight to get the belt. Now I want to prove that I'm the champ. I'm the real champ. And I want to kill him. I just want to kill him."
Alexis Nicolas kickstarts his campaign for GOAT status at ONE Fight Night 25
Aside from being a ONE world champion, Alexis Nicolas enters his third promotional appearance with a perfect 24-0 record.
'Barboza' is off to an amazing start in his combat sports career, but the native of Paris, France knows that if he truly wants to be known as one of the greatest of all time, it all starts with defending his title against the ever-dangerous Regian Eersel inside the Mecca of Muay Thai. He said:
"So it's just a start [claiming the ONE world title]. Now, I have to defend my belt. I know what I have to do. I know why I'm here. And I think ONE Championship is not ready for what's next."
Will Nicolas prove his win over Eersel was no fluke, or will 'The Immortal' reclaim kickboxing gold and hand 'Barboza' his first career loss?
ONE Fight Night 25 will air live via Amazon Prime Video in the United States and Canada on Friday, Oct. 4 in U.S. primetime.
