Jarred Brooks wants to test his skills against the top dogs in a heavier division after he defeats Joshua Pacio at ONE 164.

‘The Monkey God’ is pumped to capture Joshua Pacio’s world title at ONE 164 on December 3 in Pacio’s own backyard in Manila, Philippines. Looking forward to using his deadliest weapon against the reigning ONE strawweight world champion, win or lose, Brooks is in this game to be the version he can be.

Even before having the belt wrapped around his waist, the confident American was planning ways to upgrade his skills.

Witnessing how the flyweight division has evolved with Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes as its key figureheads, ‘The Monkey God’ would like to step up in weight and challenge the latter first above anyone else.

The 29-year-old standout recently explained why to MMA Sucka and said:

“I want that because, one, it’s gonna spring me up way more and people are gonna actually see the hard work and determination and the heart that I have and I can put it out on the line."

He added:

"Against these strawweights, I’m not a big strawweight. I could fight at atomweight. I’m 122 pounds right now, literally. I can fight atomweight but I want to test myself. I want to show these big guys that everybody thinks they’re unbeatable right?”"

Brooks is like an energizer bunny gone wild. He’s always thinking about ways to elevate his MMA career and he won’t stop until he’s completely satisfied. So far, the plan seems to be falling in his favor.

Since he joined the ONE roster in 2021, it’s been one victory after another for the submission specialist.

Finishing Pacio’s teammate Lito Adiwang by way of a triangle choke in his promotional debut, Jarred Brooks believes he can do it again and beat the last of the Team Lakay world champions on his own turf.

Jarred Brooks admits Joshua Pacio and his team are going to create a strong gameplan to beat him

Jarred Brooks is a gifted trash talker, but at the end of the day, the American instigator respects Joshua Pacio and his team enough to know they’ll bring their A-game.

Pacio is up for his fourth straight world title defense against Brooks. Although he’s gained a lot of experience fighting in a five-round championship fight, the Filipino slugger hasn’t had any recent matches to his credit this year that convinces Brooks he’s ready for someone like him.

Ultimately, Brooks might even use that against him even if Pacio’s got a great team behind him.

In the same interview, the Michigan native said:

“I know ways to beat him and he probably sees ways to beat me as well. His coach is really good, Mark is really really good and their team knows what they’re doing but there’s levels to it man, there’s levels to it.”
