Johan Ghazali isn't letting the adversity that he has faced in his career take away his confidence at all. If anything, being tested at such an early stage in a fighter's career is a good thing in order for them to learn from this experience as early as possible.
Ghazali experienced this at ONE 167, where suffered his first defeat under the ONE banner against Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat. The teenage prodigy had been blasting through opponents up to that point but when faced with an experienced opponent, he struggled to take control of the fight.
Rather than letting that seriously derail his momentum, Ghazali learned his lessons and looked to come back stronger at ONE 168.
After getting his hand raised inside the Ball Arena in Denver following a first-round stoppage win over Josue Cruz, he spoke in his post-fight media scrum about his outlook on suffering setbacks:
"I'm not a stranger to loss. I've lost in fights before. I've lost in the gym. I've lost in life. Everyone loses. Don't judge me on how I come back from my wins. Judge me on how I come back from my losses. Today I proved that no matter what you throw at me, I will still proceed to do me, you know. I will still proceed to do my best and push the limits. Losing is normal. If you're not losing, you're not trying hard enough."

Johan Ghazali has put this loss behind him
It was important for Johan Ghazali to put this loss behind him at ONE 168 whilst taking the lessons he learned with him.
Against Cruz on September 6, he didn't feel the need to rebuild his game from the bottom to the top.
Ghazali was still incredibly aggressive and looked to put his opponent on his back foot which did mean taking some shots in return.
However, unlike what happened at ONE 167, when he had him where he wanted him, Ghazali didn't let Cruz get away.
