Claressa Shields and Cris Cyborg appear to be on a collision course as the boxer-turned-PFL star recently picked between MMA and boxing after being questioned by Amanda Nunes. There has been speculation on whether a bout will materialize, especially considering both are under contract with the PFL.

The reigning Bellator and PFL women's featherweight Super Fight champion has expressed interest in fighting the two-time Olympic gold medalist in a boxing bout but indicated that she would be willing to fight her in an MMA bout as well. Nunes, who famously defeated Cyborg to become a two-division UFC champion, weighed in after Shields reposted MMA Fighting's post regarding their exchange:

"Now what MMA or boxing? [laughing emoji]," Nunes posted.

The 29-year-old responded by noting that she will grant the women's featherweight Super Fights champion her wish of fighting her in a boxing match. Shields mentioned that she plans to take a page from Nunes' book and that Cyborg will have the same fate when they meet in the ring:

"Boxing' I'mma knock her out like you did champ!"

What was Cris Cyborg's challenge to Claressa Shields?

Cris Cyborg blasted Claressa Shields on social media as she expressed interest in fighting her in either boxing or MMA.

Both women have been linked to a potential bout, however, the Brazilian has stated that the 29-year-old would have to cut down to 147 pounds should they compete in a boxing match. Cyborg took to her X account and doubled down on her challenge to Shields by giving her the option of an open-weight MMA bout if making 147 pounds was a deal breaker:

"In a real fight, I suplex @Claressashields on her head. If she wants a boxing match, @MarkTaffetMedia tell her to put down the cookies and chips and make 147. If she can't make weight, tell her to sign the @PFLMMA deal and we can do it at an open weight, no weigh in."
