Is pro boxer Anthony Taylor a former MMA fighter like he claims in the Dillon Danis street brawl video?

Professional boxer Anthony Taylor does indeed have a past in professional mixed martial arts as he claimed during his run-in with MMA fighter Dillon Danis.

'Pretty Boy' started off in combat sports as a featherweight fighter for Bellator in 2015. He won only once in four bouts in the promotion before fighting in various other organizations such as Cage Fighting Championship, British-based BAMMA, and Universal Reality Combat Championship.

Taylor's final MMA fight was a win against Chris Avila at Bellator 238 in 2020. He accumulated seven wins across 12 MMA fights before making the switch to boxing. His boxing debut came against Tommy Fury, who's the half-brother of two-time world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury.

Anthony Taylor's run-in with Dillon Danis occurred outside the Misfits Boxing Series 3 weigh-ins in Austin, Texas. Taylor followed 'El Jefe' outside the building and chided him for confronting and physically assaulting YouTuber KSI.

Taylor called Danis out by challenging him to a fight:

"Ay, ay, ay, you can't be doing that bruh. We gonna MMA fight bro. 'Cause I'll beat your a** in the street right now. I'll beat your a** in the street right now. I'm an ex-Bellator fighter bro. Nah n****, don't turn your back on me, 'cause I'll knock your a** out. I'm an MMA fighter too n****. You suck."

Taylor constantly reiterated his mixed martial arts background as he threw punches and even managed to land one on Danis' face. An all-out brawl ensued between the two sides before Danis and Taylor were finally separated.

It all happened on the back of Danis confronting YouTuber KSI, who was in attendance at the YouTubers Misfits Series 3 weigh-ins and was being interviewed. The two had a tense verbal exchange and challenged each other to sign a contract to presumably fight each other.

As the confrontation evolved into threats of knocking or choking each other out right there, Danis sucker-punched KSI's hat off his head and threw a beverage on the YouTuber. The two were quickly separated by the people present and no more blows were traded. However, the incident prompted Anthony Taylor to follow Dillon Danis as he was being escorted outside.

Floyd Mayweather challenges Anthony Taylor to spar with him

Earlier this month, Anthony Taylor targeted undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

Prior to Mayweather's fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Deji Olatunji, Taylor called him out in the fight's promotional press conference. 'Pretty Boy' challenged 'Money' to an exhibition match, much to Mayweather's surprise.

Although Mayweather did not entertain Taylor's outburst at the presser, he did invite the former MMA fighter to spar with him. During an open workout, 'Money' challenged Anthony Taylor to step into the ring. Taylor obliged but it did not go beyond trash-talking and no physical blows were exchanged.
