Yana Santos took on Holly Holm in the co-main event at UFC San Antonio on Saturday night. Santos dropped a lopsided decision loss with Holm putting a beating on her from top position for most of the fight.

Santos (previously Kunitskaya) adopted her husband Thiago Santos' surname after marriage. Santos is a former UFC light heavyweight who is believed to have given Jon Jones one of the toughest tests of his career back in 2019.

However, 'Marretta' left the UFC for the PFL last october, having won only once in six outings since 2019.

Meanwhile, Yana Santos' loss to Holly Holm at UFC San Antonio made it two in a row for the Russian-born veteran, who returned to the octagon after a hiatus of almost two years. Known for come-from-behind victories, Santos has fought the likes of Cris Cyborg, Ketlen Vieira, and Aspen Ladd in her career.

The relationship between Yana Santos and her husband

Yana Santos and Thiago Santos have been dating since 2019 and announced their engagement in December 2020. The power couple subsequently tied the knot, although the exact date of their marriage remains unknown.

Yana and Thiago have since moved to Florida, where they are often seen training together and also run a non-profit MMA training institute for kids from low income backgrounds.

Both Thiago and Yana have children from their past relationships named Tiago and Adam respectively. The couple gave birth to their first child together, Alisa Santos, in April, 2022. Yana Santos also dismissed rumors that she had fought pregnant during her UFC 264 clash against Irene Aldana.

Speaking of the advantages of having a partner from the same discipline, Yana said in an earlier interview with MMA Junkie:

"Plus is more because we’re both in the same routine. We both need to eat you know healthy focusing fights and camp. Some minuses that we can’t uh like support each other like in some moments because we need focus in our fights but we do our best. We support each other trying to do camp as smooth as it can be and good thing that after fights we can you know rest a little enjoy life traveling.”
