At ONE 169 last month, Jackie Buntan secured the biggest victory of her career to date. The Filipino-American striker had already produced some very impressive performances under the ONE Championship banner to make her a staple of the roster. On November 8, she climbed to a whole new level by getting her hand raised in what might have been her toughest assignment.Buntan faced off with the veteran competitor Anissa Meksen for the inaugural strawweight kickboxing world championship at Lumpinee Stadium. One of the big changes for her to adapt to was the change in gloves which impacts a lot of different things.ONE Championship uses four-ounce gloves for Muay Thai which make every shot even more dangerous.Buntan spoke about this during a recent interview with The Casuals where she was very to the point about what it feels like to trade strikes in the small gloves:"When I came out, my face looked normal. I have nothing swollen. Have no marks. I think with the MMA gloves, like everyone will say, I like it in terms of hitting the other girl, (but) getting hit with it, yeah, it sucks."Watch the full interview below:Jackie Buntan used this to her advantageJackie Buntan was able to use her experience in the smaller gloves to her advantage at ONE 169.Making her kickboxing debut against a seasoned veteran was always going to be a tough ask for the Muay Thai specialist. If there's one area that she held a clear advantage, it was in the boxing exchanges.Buntan has already proven in the past that she packs a punch and with her usually being used to feeling that coming right back at her, she's fast and evasive when trading and this ended up being so important for her at ONE 169.
