Jake Paul earns praise from UFC legend

Jake Paul is one of the most polarizing figures in combat sports. Despised for allegedly picking on older MMA veterans, the former Disney teen star has amassed an army of dissenters ever since he went full-time with professional boxing.

However, Paul has proven himself to be more than just a circus sideshow in his recent outings. As a result, he has earned the respect of some of the most prominent fighters. This was the case with retired UFC lightweight superstar Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone, who only had nice things to say about Paul.

Despite the criticisms hurled at Paul, Cerrone believes that 'The Problem Child' is a good boxer and respects what he’s doing in the combat sports world. Appearing on Brendan Schaub's Thicc Boy podcast Cerrone said:

“The Jake Paul phenomenon is kind of crazy, it’s got everyone calling him out. It’s kind of like the big Conor push. I feel like that’s happening with Jake Paul. Everyone wants in, and I don’t see why they wouldn’t, that’s a big money fight."

The 39-year-old cage warrior also defended Paul from his naysayers, adding:

"You can take away (from him). Everyone is saying those are rigged fights, and I think he’s hitting hard. I really do think those are legitimate shots and strikes, and he’s been practicing boxing, and he’s whipping their asses. I don’t think there’s any missed hype, I think he’s got something going."
