ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai world champion Janet Todd wants ONE Championship to sign Japanese star Takeru Segawa and pit his skills against fighters like Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

Currently one of the most sought-after free agents in combat sports, Takeru has yet to sign with any promotion. However, he has been active in training and was recently spotted doing sparring work at Boxing Works.

Janet Todd, who is affiliated with the Southern California gym, said she is excited about the possibility of ONE signing the striking icon and former K-1 world champion because he would be a great addition to its roster.

'JT' said in an interview with ONE Championship:

“I sure hope so. I mean, I hope that ONE finds him. He's one of the best. He’s been working with one of our other fighters. Yeah, I heard his videos went viral. And I hope he gets on the ONE Championship roster. He'd be a really good addition.”

Janet Todd went on to hype up a potential Takeru-Rodtang showdown, describing it as explosive and interesting. She said:

“They should just make it happen. They're both strong, tough fighters and like to stay in the pocket, so that'll be an interesting fight.”

As she awaits for Takeru to sign with ONE, Todd is set to see action in a world title unification bout against reigning divisional queen Allycia Hellen Rodrigues on March 24 at ONE Fight Night 8 in Singapore.

'JT', who is also the ONE atomweight kickboxing world titleholder, is looking to become the undisputed ONE atomweight Muay Thai champion and become a fully fledged two-sport champ.

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues, for her part, is making her first world title defense since winning the division’s gold in 2020.

All ONE Fight Night events are broadcast live and for free in North America via Prime Video.

'JT' will take on the returning champion in the co-main event at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video on March 24 in Singapore. The American fighter is aiming to become the undisputed ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion in addition to being the division’s kickboxing queen.

The Boxing Works-affiliated Janet Todd is making sure her game is sharp for the upcoming big fight with help from her team in Southern California.

ONE Championship recently posted a video on Instagram showing the American fireball trade kicks with teammate and fellow ONE fighter Jackie Buntan, captioning the post with:

Janet Todd claimed the interim world championship last July after defeating Spain’s Lara Fernandez by unanimous decision.

The world title fight, meanwhile, will mark Allycia Hellen Rodrigues’ return to action after giving birth and taking care of her son. She became the world champion after beating Thai superstar Stamp Fairtex by a majority decision in August 2020.
