Sean O'Malley recently made an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.

The No.1-ranked bantamweight and UFC commentator Joe Rogan discussed the treatment of WNBA player Brittney Griner, who is currently incarcerated in a Russian penal colony: IK-2, Mordovia.

Griner was sentenced to nine years in prison for possessing vape cartridges with a small quantity of cannabis oil after she was arrested at Moscow airport this February.

Rogan stated:

"What they're doing now to Brittney Griner is f**king insane. They moved her to a penal colony. It's like slave labor. You're in a labor camp. Penal colony, like where? Where is this thing? They'll f**king literally move you to Siberia, and you live in prison in Siberia."

Rogan was then shown the penal colony where Griner is being housed, to which he stated:

"This is where they're moving her to? Jesus Christ, how grim is that? Look at it, it's frozen. The Republic of Mordovia, Russia on Friday. F**k dude, look at that. There's got to be a hope in your head like 'I'm pretty famous, United States is going to take care of me', nope... For a vape pen... That's straight insanity."

While the United States has reportedly attempted to negotiate the release of Griner, she is currently serving time in a prison notorious for human rights violations.

As per The Guardian, one popular saying among Russian female prisoners, underlining the grim reality that Griner is about to face, goes: “If you haven’t done time in Mordovia, you haven’t done time at all.”

It is unclear, however, if the American government will be able to negotiate her release.

Joe Rogan shares that he re-watched Sean O'Malley and Petr Yan

Sean O'Malley picked up what many believed was a controversial split-decision victory over Petr Yan at UFC 280. UFC commentator Joe Rogan recently shared that he re-watched the fight.

Speaking to O'Malley on his podcast, Rogan stated:

"I was like, 'No, that's not a bad decision.' There was one round to you in the beginning, second round to Yan, third round to you. If you look at damage done, you look at overall strikes and impact, you landed more. He definitely took you down, but how much was done with that? That's the thing. It's like, what does that count for?"

Many fans and fighters, including Yan himself, were not thrilled with the judges' scorecards. O'Malley, however, is now the top-ranked bantamweight contender and will likely be fighting for the belt in the near future.
