United States senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania recently had a candid conversation about depression with UFC commentator Joe Rogan. Ahead of the 2024 US Elections, Fetterman made an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience where he spoke about a wide range of topics.

At one point during the conversation, the American politician opened up about his personal life and his struggles with depression. Fetterman spoke about his battles with the thoughts of self-harm and shared that it was his kids and the drive to be an ideal parent that helped him deal with it.

"If you don't check your depression, then you go down a dangerous slope about self-harm and I started to occupy that kind of dark place and that's when I realized I have a choice. It's like if I don't address this... I had an emergency break. It's like, 'I have to stop. I have to stop.'
"And that was my kids. I'm like, 'I can't be the example.' And when you're gonna get older in life and you're gonna have those kinds of, 'Well, hey dad decided to leave. That must be the right thing.' And I'm like I cannot allow myself to be the example of that. So, I stayed in the game and I was able to get help and I got much better."

Joe Rogan showers praise on UFC champion Ilia Topuria

UFC featherweight king Ilia Topuria recently defeated Max Holloway at UFC 308 and became the first fighter in history to knock 'Blessed' out. In a recent episode of his podcast, Joe Rogan lauded Topuria and claimed that the 27-year-old did not have any 'weaknesses'.

Rogan then spoke about the possibility of 'El Matador' being the greatest fighter in the world today.

"Ilia is fast as f**k. He doesn't have any disadvantages. He doesn't have any weaknesses, man. That's the thing. That's why I think he's the new high watermark. There's people that are thinking he's the best pound-for-pound fighter alive... It's a little premature, especially with Jon Jones still out there. Islam Makhachev [is] another one... But it's f**king close, [Topuria] might be the best."
