Jon Jones mocked the petition to strip him of his UFC heavyweight title in light of Dana White's recent comments. The petition has gained traction, stemming from growing frustration among fight fans regarding Jones' inactivity and reluctance to face interim champion Tom Aspinall in the title unification bout.
As per recent updates, the petition has garnered close to 200,000 signatures, although it is unlikely that the UFC will strip Jones based solely on the basis of the petition.
During the UFC 316 post-fight press conference, White was asked to share his thoughts on the petition. He responded:
"How many fans are there worldwide now? What's the number? 400 million or something like that? 130,000 want to see him stripped."

When asked if the number was not enough to give in to fans' demand, White said:
"I'm not saying that. It's just kind of silly."

Jones, who has constantly shifted his position on facing Aspinall, has trolled fight fans for the criticism in recent months. Citing White's comments, he clapped back at the petition in a recent post on X, stating:
"200,000/8,000,000,000 [Approximate global population]."
Dana White on Francis Ngannou's return and Jon Jones' competitive future
The confusion about the UFC heavyweight title picture has grown in recent weeks. While Jones has expressed that he may retire from competition, former champion Francis Ngannou has indicated his interest in returning to the UFC.
Ngannou had left the organization in 2022 due to contractual disagreements and the desire for freedom to pursue opportunities in boxing, ultimately signing a contract with PFL.
In the UFC 316 post-fight press conference, Dana White was asked if the possibility of a mega-fight against Ngannou could change Jones' opinion about retirement. White gave a nonchalant response, stating:
"It's Aspinall's fight. We've been talking to this kid forever about it. It's his fight. Listen, you can't make people fight. If Jon doesn't want to fight, you can't make him fight. We can try to make him fight, we can throw things at him that inspire him to want to fight, but we'll figure it out." [9:45]
While Jones has also shown inclination toward fighting Ngannou, it is not yet clear if the plan to re-sign the Cameroonian is on the table for the UFC brass.
