Jon Jones' career and reputation have been plagued by controversy both in and out of the octagon for quite some time. His legacy and supremacy in the octagon are unquestionable, yet Jones' ascent and downfall are the epitome of triumph and tragedy in sports.

The former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion made his heavyweight debut against Ciryl Gane at the recently concluded UFC 285 pay-per-view card. Jones proved once again why he's considered by many as the undisputed greatest MMA fighter by capturing the heavyweight throne with a quick first-round submission victory.

Besides the many suspensions he has served in the UFC for doping violations, Jon Jones has also been caught on the wrong side of the law on several occasions. Jon Jones has been arrested a total of five times.

Back in May 2012, Jones crashed his Bentley into a post in New York City. His mother, Camille, immediately posted his bail after he was jailed for DUI (driving under the influence). He pled guilty to the charges and paid a fine of $1,000. He also had a six-month suspension on his driver's license at the time.

In April 2015, 'Bones' was involved in a horrific hit-and-run incident that could have potentially ruined his career. Jones skipped a red light and smashed his rental car in Albuquerque, colliding with two other vehicles. 'Bones' fled the scene, leaving a pregnant woman behind in another vehicle. Jon Jones was arrested after witnesses and documents were found in his rented vehicle.

He ended up getting 18 months of supervised probation, but he didn't get charged with a felony after agreeing to do charity work. The UFC subsequently suspended him indefinitely and stripped him of his light heavyweight title.

Jones was additionally arrested in March 2020 for an aggravated DWI offense (driving while intoxicated/impaired). In addition to shooting a pistol under the influence of alcohol, he also lacked insurance documentation.

Finally, Jones was arrested in September 2021 for criminal battery and domestic violence. His fiancée, Jessie Moses, had contacted the police saying that Jones physically abused her. When cops arrived at the scene, they found blood on her clothing and wounds to her nose and mouth. Jones tweeted in 2022 that Moses had broken up with him after over two decades of dating.

Dana White wanted to book a private jet to bring Jon Jones home "safe and sound" after UFC 285

With his first-round submission victory over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285, Jon Jones solidified his place as one of the sport's all-time greats.

Jones had not fought in nearly three years since relinquishing his light heavyweight title in 2020. 'Bones' left no stone unturned in preparing for his heavyweight debut, and his efforts were rewarded with an easy victory over Gane this past weekend.

UFC President Dana White wanted to make sure the controversial UFC star got home "safe and sound" after his stunning victory at the recently concluded UFC event. He joked about chartering a private jet for the newly crowned heavyweight champion. White stated at the post-fight press conference:

"I told Hunter [Campbell], charter a private jet and get Jon Jones home to New Mexico right now, safe and sound."
