Jorge Masvidal has been angling for a title shot against Leon Edwards following the latter's UFC 278 victory over Kamaru Usman. The No.11-ranked welterweight has been very vocal about the potential matchup, milking his 2019 backstage altercation at UFC: London with the welterweight champ. With Edwards now the champion, he recently responded to a Masvidal callout saying that 'Street Jesus' would have to beg for him to even consider giving him a title shot. Masvidal responded via Twitter:"I’ve never gotten on my knees and begged anyone for anything. If your lifestyle is to get on your knees... that’s on you, I’m not judging. Accept the fight, get this payday, get your rematch and get your face broken at the same time. It’s a no brainer dummy. #itoldyou"BMF.eth@GamebredFighterI’ve never gotten on my knees and begged anyone for anything. Masvidal has been winless since 2019, losing his last three fights, two of which were title fights against Usman. Edwards recently acknowledged that despite his desire to fight Masvidal, his recent losing streak has made it a tough fight for the UFC to make.Check out Leon Edwards' tweet to Jorge Masvidal below:Leon 'Rocky' Edwards@Leon_edwardsmmarefer to me as “Mr Edwards" or "Sir" and get on your knees and beg and I may consider it twitter.com/mmafighting/st…MMAFighting.com@MMAFighting"Leon, f****** step up to the plate, bro. Currently ranked outside of the division's top ten, Masvidal will likely have to get back in the win column before he receives another crack at the 170lbs title.Watch Jorge Masvidal's comments on potentially facing Leon Edwards below (starting at the 7:53 mark below):
