Kamaru Usman has dismissed the idea of a potential fight against Belal Muhammad, completely ignoring the topic.
'The Nigerian Nightmare' clinched a unanimous decision victory over Joaquin Buckley at UFC Atlanta. After this win, he clarified his intentions of pursuing the welterweight title next.
During the post-fight press conference for UFC Atlanta, a media representative asked Usman about his interest in a possible fight against Muhammad. In response, the 38-year-old said:
"Who is it? Who's that? Next."

Belal Muhammad calls for "number one" contender fight against Kamaru Usman
Unlike Kamaru Usman, Belal Muhammad is very eager to pursue a matchup against him. Shortly after Usman's victory at UFC Atlanta, Muhammad posted a video on his YouTube channel.
In the video, Muhammad explained the reasons for wanting to fight 'The Nigerian Nightmare', saying:
"I wanted [Usman] to get on the mic and call me out. I think that's the next one that makes sense. That's the only fight that makes sense. If you're talking about the division, we have history, we've been going back and forth, it's a clear number one contender fight."
He added:
"He's calling for the belt [at] 185, 170, but I'm number one. I'm still the guy at the top. So, let's do it. You could pick the date, the time, the place, and I'll be ready for it. Watching this fight, I see you're not going to take me down like that... It's not going to be what Buckley was, it's going to be a lot harder. I think it'll be all on the feet. It'll be a definitely fun fight and I'm excited for it."
