Kamaru Usman secured a unanimous decision victory over Joaquin Buckley at UFC Atlanta. Shortly after, Usman took on the role of matchmaker and suggested three potential matchups in the welterweight division.
While there are several rising contenders in the 170-pound weight class, Usman proposed himself as a candidate for the next title shot. Speaking at the post-fight press conference for UFC Atlanta, the former welterweight champion said:
"Let me just go ahead and [play] the matchmaker for you guys. Buckley, incredible fights. Buckley can fight Ian Garry, or Buckley can fight Carlos Prates. Sean Brady could fight Shavkat [Rakhmonov]. Me [against] Winner of Islam [vs.] JDM [Jack Della Maddalena], simple."

As for Usman himself, he anticipates another opportunity to compete for the title.
Kamaru Usman shares his take on potential Jack Della Maddalena vs. Islam Makhachev fight
UFC welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev have verbally agreed to face each other next. While the UFC has not made any official announcements regarding this matchup, there is already significant buzz surrounding it.
During the aforementioned post-fight media scrum, Kamaru Usman shared his thoughts on the matchup, saying:
"I'm not predicting anything. All I'm saying to you guys is stop sleeping on [Jack Della Maddalena]. He's very, very talented. That's why he's the champion right now, so let's not sleep on him. Islam [Makhachev], of course, is pound-for-pound number one, so let's not sleep on him, too. It's going to be an interesting fight. I will be watching that fight and I'll take the winner." [25:05]
